I'm Kate, and this is my story

I am 23 years old and have been weightlifting for 8 years. I have always been an athlete, playing high level soccer for most of my life. I grew up being very insecure of my muscular build and it wasn’t until I started lifting for performance rather than aesthetics, that I finally became confident and proud of the body I was in.


My training primarily focuses on hypertrophy and strength training. I have recently fallen in love with strength training because I love to see what my body is capable of and it is my strength that has allowed me to feel so confident in myself. It took me a long time to realize this. Being a female, I grew up thinking that I had to be smaller to be desired and considered beautiful. Now all I am thinking is why are we trying to shrink ourselves when we can be muscle mommies?! STRONG IS SEXY


I believe in living a very balanced lifestyle. I have no restrictions when it comes to nutrition, I just try to follow the 80/20 rule of thumb: 80% of the time you are eating nutritious, whole foods, and 20% of the time you are eating whatever makes you happy. You can reach your goals without restricting the foods you love. Your lifestyle needs to be sustainable or else it will never stick!
