How to Go Live in Your Facebook Group

TL;DR

  • Go live in your Facebook group to engage with your community

  • Host a Q&A with your members, introduce a new program or challenge, or explain a new app update

  • Schedule a live event in your group to give your members a heads up to join

Your app is up and running and your Facebook group is getting a lot of love. At this point, you may be ready to share more with your community of fans. Going live in your Facebook group is the perfect way to do this. Engaging and connecting with your community has never been easier!

Note: While there’s nothing wrong with going live on a whim, we recommend marketing your live event within your group at least one or two days in advance to give members plenty of notice to tune in.

9 Steps to Go Live in Your Facebook Group

  1. Go to your Facebook group and make sure you are signed in as yourself or the Page that manages the group.

  2. Start making a post by clicking “What’s on your mind?"

  3. Click the three dots next to “Add to Your Post."

  4. You will see a new screen pop-up. Click “Post in the group” on the left-hand side.

  5. Title your video and create a caption.

  6. Click “Use Camera” to use your desktop or laptop camera.

  7. For “Select a media source,” make sure your settings allow Facebook to have access to your camera and microphone.

  8. Select everything in “Viewing Settings."

  9. Click "Go Live!"

Now you are streaming live in your group and can chat with your group members.

Here are a few ideas for topics to discuss when you go live with your group:

  • Introduce a new program

  • Do an app walkthrough for any new members

  • Discuss any new app updates

  • Host a Q&A and answer questions from your group members in real time

  • Walk your members through your pre-gym routine or your morning routine

Note: You can also schedule a live video event and set a notification that your members will receive as a reminder. To do this, go to your dashboard and click “Schedule a Live Video” on the left-hand side.

Going live within your Facebook group is a great way to engage with your community and show you are not just a face behind the screen, but you are there to answer questions and interact one-on-one with your group members. This type of community engagement can make all the difference in the way your fans view you and your app.
