How to Build Your Exercise Library to Make Workout Creation Easier

TL;DR

  • Your exercise library is home to short-form videos like single exercises and circuits

  • Once a video is uploaded to your exercise library, you can reuse it to create collections (either programs or categories) and challenges

  • The steps outlined in this article can be completed in the creator app or on a desktop using the admin panel

On Playbook, you can provide your fans with both long-form classes and short-form workouts. Creating both types of content is a great way to give your subscribers a variety of options. We have already covered how to upload long-form videos using your video library, so now we will go over how to create short-form workouts using your exercise library. This will be helpful for creating workouts in the future because the videos you need will already be uploaded.

What is a “Short-Form” Video?

Short-form videos can be an exercise video or a circuit.

An exercise video is:

  • Used for a single exercise that is not part of a set.

  • Under 45 seconds in length demonstrating an individual move.

Examples: “Bench Press, 3 Sets of 10 Reps,” or “10 Pushups”

A circuit:

  • Allows you to group multiple exercises together so that your fans can perform them in a sequence.

Examples: “Abs Circuit with 5 Rounds,” or “HIIT Training: 4 Rounds for 30 Seconds Each”

How to Upload Short-Form Videos to Your Exercise Library

Note: You have to upload a video to the exercise library, then create a workout (more on that below), and choose videos to add to that workout from your video library.

  1. Go to your exercise library

  2. Tap on “Add” in the top right corner

  3. Choose your template (exercise or circuit template)

  4. Select a video from your phone to upload
  5. Enter a video title, description, and reps

Note: After tapping on the “reps” cell you will see a “to failure” button pop up and you can press that.

Also, you can save time with Playbook's auto-populating exercise descriptions! Tap on the "Title" field and start typing the exercise title, then tap on the desired exercise from the automated list. You can then edit the description or leave it as is. If you choose to edit the description, instead of typing, you can press the microphone button on your iPhone and speak out the description.
  6. Tap "Create"

Once the video is uploaded into your exercise library, you can reuse it over and over again to build Programs, Categories, and Challenges.

3 Tips for Uploading Short-Form Videos

  1. You can leave the app while your video is uploading (upload will continue in the background and you will get a notification when it’s complete).

  2. Keep in mind it can take over 30 minutes to upload some videos depending on length and internet connection.

  3. Pull down to refresh to check up on your upload status.

And you’re done! Now you know how to navigate your exercise library and upload short-form videos to create workouts and circuits for your fans. Use these tools to upload new workouts to your app!
